At Circle, Anti-Racism Month has provided an important opportunity to reflect, learn, and take meaningful action across our organisation. Through a series of conversations and shared moments, colleagues have come together to deepen understanding and reaffirm our collective commitment to inclusion.
A key highlight of the month was a guest speaker session with Kensika Monshengwo, a specialist in intercultural communication and anti-racism. Colleagues from across the organisation joined the session to explore the real challenges faced in day-to-day work, from responding to subtle forms of racism, to navigating cultural differences, to supporting tenants who have experienced trauma or migration.
The session offered practical, actionable guidance on communicating with confidence, practising culturally sensitive allyship, and recognising and addressing unintentional bias. It also created space for honest reflection and open discussion, reinforcing the importance of continuous learning in building an inclusive workplace.
Alongside this, Circle staff marked the UN International Day Against Racism with a “Wear Red” initiative in support of Show Racism the Red Card, a campaign led in Ireland by the Immigrant Council of Ireland. Colleagues across the Housing Services team wore red or added a red scarf during their monthly meeting, a simple yet powerful gesture symbolising a shared commitment to equality, dignity, and respect.
The day also included a celebration of cultural diversity within our communities, with staff enjoying a variety of treats from different backgrounds. A classic Irish crisp sandwich, made with Brennan’s bread, King crisps and Kerrygold, proved especially popular, adding a light-hearted and social element to the day.
Together, these moments, both reflective and celebratory, highlight how meaningful change is built through everyday actions, open conversations, and visible support.
Circle remains committed to embedding anti-racism into our work, our culture, and our interactions with colleagues and tenants. By continuing to learn from one another and take collective action, we are working towards a more inclusive and equitable future for all.
