Circle is pleased to become a JAM Card Friendly organisation, helping to make our services more accessible and inclusive for tenants and people who use our services.
The JAM Card is designed for people with hidden disabilities or communication difficulties. It provides a simple and discreet way for someone to let others know that they may need a little extra time, patience or support.
As part of becoming JAM Card Friendly, Circle staff have completed training to help them better understand hidden disabilities and communication barriers. This means our staff are better prepared to recognise when someone may need additional support and to make small adjustments to how we communicate.
These adjustments can be simple. They might include giving someone more time to explain what they need, communicating information clearly, being patient, or checking that someone has understood the information provided.
For Circle, becoming JAM Card Friendly is part of our ongoing work to make it easier for tenants to access our services and communicate with us in a way that works for them.
Claire McCleery, Director of JAM Card for Business at NOW Group, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Circle VHA as a JAM Card partner and to see the organisation champion greater inclusion and accessibility across its services.
Housing providers play a vital role in supporting people and communities every day. By introducing JAM Card training and awareness, Circle VHA is helping to reduce communication barriers and create environments where people with invisible disabilities feel understood, respected and supported.
Small adjustments in how interactions are handled can make a significant difference. Giving someone an extra minute, communicating clearly or simply showing patience can help make accessing services less stressful and more positive.”
Becoming JAM Card Friendly is another step towards ensuring that everyone can access Circle’s services and feels listened to, understood and supported.
